Q: What is it?
A: DepthCharge is a plug-in for Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers that allows a variety of 3D stereoscopic content to be delivered over the Internet and displayed on personal computers. DepthCharge allows website creators to author a single stereoscopic image file that will support a wide variety of 3D stereoscopic viewing systems (from red/blue glasses to advanced shutter glasses systems like the VR Visualizer). The plug-in also allows 3D stereoscopic images that are embedded in a web page to be viewed in a full screen mode with the simple click of a mouse.
Q: Is DepthCharge a plug-in or a Java applet?
A: DepthCharge is currently a plug-in. An Active-X and auto install version will be released shortly.
Q: What features does DepthCharge support?
A: DepthCharge supports a variety of still image formats, streaming video, motion video playback, in browser viewing modes, full screen viewing modes, and a variety of 3D viewing devices.
Q: Do we need to use DepthCharge for our Content?
A: No. If you are authoring content specifically for the VR Visualizer system, you can use stereoscopic images directly on your website just as you use 2D images. The benefit of using DepthCharge is that your users can click on the image and view it in a full screen mode (which gives a better 3D effect).
